From 13th March 2018, all Strata Buildings in NSW are required to have Child Safety Restrictors installed. These window safety devices allow the window to be locked at 125mm. When the device is engaged it will prevent the window from opening fully. When the device is not activated the window can be fully opened. Owners Corporations are responsible for the installation of all Common Property windows that are above the ground floor.
The purpose of this legislation is to prevent the fall of children from open windows. Each year more than 50 children fall from open windows with children between the ages of 1 and 5 most at risk.
We install Child Safety Restrictors for double-hung, sliding, casement, louvre, and even bi-fold windows. If you don’t have window safety devices installed yet it’s not too late. Call us today to have your building certified.
